Biography

Stuart Essig joined Wellington in March 2013 as a Venture Partner on the Life Science team. He advises on medical devices and strategic decisions. Stuart Essig currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Integra LifeSciences, a NASDAQ-listed company which has grown during his tenure as Chief Executive Officer (1997 - 2012) and now Chairman (2012-) from US$15 million of revenues to almost US$1 billion in revenues, with nearly US$4 billion in enterprise value. Prior to joining Integra, he supervised the medical technology practice at Goldman, Sachs & Co. as a Managing Director, where he had served for ten years as a senior merger and acquisitions advisor to a broad range of international medical technology, pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. Stuart also is a member of the Board of Directors of St. Jude Medical Corporation, Owens and Minor Corporation and SeaSpine Corporation, as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Breg, Inc. Previously, he served on the Board of Directors of Zimmer Holdings, Inc., and Vital Signs, Inc. (acquired by GE). Stuart Essig received an A.B. degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and holds an M.B.A. and a Ph.D. degree in Financial Economics from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business.
