Entry Date: June 2007

Jena-based BMDSys is the first company worldwide to have developed a high-resolution diagnostic imaging system for routine clinical application that operates on the principle of magnetic field measurements (Apollo CXS). It allows non-invasive cardiac measurements that do not expose the patient to any radiation or side effects, while simultaneously offering time and cost savings. Thanks to BMDSys, it is possible to provide faster and more accurate diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmia, for example, as well as of acute and chronic consequences of coronary artery disease. The company was formed in 2005 by serial entrepreneur Torsten Krümmel (today CEO) and university professor and physicist Dr. Sergio Nicola Erné (today CTO), a pioneer in the field of biomagnetic research and the initiator of the magnetic field imaging (MFI) diagnostic procedure.
