| Mobile photo sharing taken
to a new level with social vibes |
EyeEm is a photosharing application for smartphones that allows users to share and discover new images from around the world. Following a successful beta period with over 5,000 users from 79 countries, the Berlin-based company launched its unique app in the iOS App Store and Android Marketplace in August 2011. And EyeEm delivers more than just a possibility to filter, tag, and share photos via Facebook or Twitter. The free-to-download app constantly monitors its users’ tastes and uses this data to recommend albums of similar photos of friends and like-minded people around the globe.
This service is based on an automatic solution that categorizes photos using 'vibes' – a photo album that pulls images into topical photo streams. Wellington Partners took part in a seed funding round in the summer of 2011, as we were impressed by the idea of encouraging conversation and discovery around the sharing of images while building a business concept at the cross-section of social, mobile, and local applications.
