Founded in 2001 by Thomas Nitsche and Philipp Pieper, Proximic.com (operated by Ingent, Inc.) has developed fundamentally different algorithms for performing Internet search and contextual matching. Unlike others the algorithm is completely unrelated to the occurrences of words or any intimate knowledge of language. As a result of the quality and performance step-up, Proximic is entering the growing market of contextual advertising and content matching by offering web services for publishers and advertisers as well as productivity tools for web users. Thomas Nitsche has previously built Mephisto, the consecutive world champion chess computer in the 1980s.
