UK-based Quanta Fluid Solutions is a pioneering developer of home haemodialysis systems, called “SelfCare”. It is based on a revolutionary machine and cartridge design that provides simplicity, reliability, portability and high treatment quality to patients with chronic renal disease. The unique solution targets the needs of an emerging and under-served home-care market. Today, less than 5% of hameodialysis patients are treated at home, although a number of studies has shown that 30-40% of patients would be capable of performing self-dialysis. As the patient population is growing in an increasingly budget-constrained healthcare environment, cost-efficient home-care-solutions should be able to catch quickly a larger portion of the € 27 billion global market for haemodialysis. This growth potential was a main reason for Wellington Partners to co-lead a Series A round of €10 million in September 2009.
