Qype has over 250,000 members, more than 15 million unique visitors per month and more than one million public reviews covering more than 15,000 European towns and cities.
The Hamburg-based company provides a communication platform, www.qype.com, that allows users to discover places, businesses and services in their local area and share opinions. Qype is already market leader in France, Germany and UK and also live in six further European markets.The enormous growth in user and contributor numbers and the early revenue traction in the local advertising market were key factors for Wellington Partners to led a second financing round of €8.0 million in September 2008.
Now, the company is heading to conquer the mobile Web as well. Its apps for iPhone and Android automatically fix the location and display places and special offers nearby.
