The key to sustainable development worldwide is the responsible use of natural resources. To combat climate change and preserve the finite resources of the planet, the nations of the world will have to significantly increase the amount of power we generate from renewable sources while developing more efficient ways to get that power to the consumers. At the same time, we are forced to place a much stronger emphasis on the more efficient use of the resources we have available to us, such as water and waste.
As we have so often in the past, we expect technology to be the key driver in this kind of fundamental change toward the more responsible use of those resources, and we anticipate that many of the necessary groundbreaking innovations will be coming from young companies.
