Since 1998, ACG has been offering the enabling technology for state-of-the-art contact-type and contactless ID solutions, e.g. smart cards and RFID tags. Attracted by its fast-paced growth and huge potential, Wellington Partners invested in this very forward-looking business concept during the company’s first year of operations. Sailing a growth course in a new market offering huge prospects made ACG an ideal candidate for going public – and in July 1999, the company did it. The IPO was oversubscribed many times over, and ACG soon reached its peak market cap at more than one billion deutschmarks. In the autumn of 1999, Wellington Partners aided the company in further expanding its business through a merger with w.w.chip AG.
Today, ACG is an integral part of Swedish-based ASSA ABLOY Identification Technologies and is the leader in the multi-billion euro RFID industry.
