|World-class software, Made in Switzerland|
Swiss SAF Simulation, Analysis and Forecasting AG has developed a unique demand chain management software system. It affords fully automated, cost-optimized merchandise management on the basis of complex statistical forecasting and optimization methods. Through this world-class technology, SAF has enabled a revolutionary step for the optimization of warehousing of retailers.
From the beginning, the company has been led by former Johnson&Johnson and Colgate Palmolive manager Andreas von Beringe. He teamed up very early with Prof. Arminger, who had developed the original concept of the software. In 1999, three years after the founding, Wellington Partners invested in SAF’s Series A financing round, enabling the company to speed up its product development and its international roll-out. An important ingredient for SAF’s global success became the strategic partnerships with leading technology and software companies like IBM or SAP.
Especially after the recession 2002/2003, these efforts paid off – revenues increased by 114 percent in 2004 and 2005 generating a solid profit for 2005. The fast growth and the rising profitability paved the ground for the successful IPO of SAF in April 2006 – a milestone in the company’s history. In July 2009, SAF reaped the awards of the long-term and successful collaboration with SAP, when the German software giant published a public offer to acquire SAF.
