About Victor
In March 2011, seasoned entrepreneur Victor Christou joined the Venture Partner team. Thanks to his tremendous expertise in high tech and especially clean technology companies, he will make important contributions to the strategic and operational development of our portfolio.
In 1997, Victor founded Opsys, an organic electronics business focusing on organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and took the company from an idea on a piece of paper to a world leading technology provider with activities in the UK, USA and Japan. He was a member of the team that sold Opsys to Cambridge Display Technology (now owned by Sumitomo Chemicals). Victor has considerable experience on both sides of the investment table. In recent years has focused his attention on cleantech investing; before Wellington he worked for Oxford Capital Partners and CT Investment Partners LLP, the venture capital advisors to the Carbon Trust. He has led investments in several venture backed businesses, including Helveta, Green Biologics and Concurrent Thinking.
Victor has a BSc and PhD in Chemistry from Imperial College, London and was a Sloan Fellow in the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. In the early stages of his career, Victor was an academic, spending time researching materials at the University of California at Berkeley and then at the University of Oxford, where he was a Royal Society University Research Fellow and Junior Research Fellow at Balliol College. Victor was the Royal Society of Chemistry Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002.
