About Neil
Neil Richardson joined Wellington Partners as a Venture Partner in the autumn of 2006. He is currently CEO of Gemfire Corporation, a manufacturer of planar light circuit devices for the telecom industry. From 1993 to 2008 he held executive vice president and business development positions at KLA-Tencor. He was responsible for a wide variety of optical metrology and electron-beam inspection product lines which serve the semiconductor fabrication equipment market. Neil is mostly involved in our companies in the semiconductor equipment and process area and, like many people in that industry, he has an increasing interest and network in the cleantech (specifically photovoltaic and LED) area.
Neil has over two decades of experience in the semiconductor capital equipment business. From 1984 to 1991 he was responsible for the creation and growth of the diagnostic systems division of Schlumberger Test Systems, San Jose, California. Prior to that he worked as a research engineer at the Fairchild Semiconductor Research Labs in Palo Alto, California. Neil is a native of the U.K. and holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Cambridge University.
