Our Venture Partner network in Europe and the U.S. consists of highly established, extremely well networked, international professionals that are in influential positions in the sectors that are relevant for our portfolio companies. They are there to help on three elements: first to benchmark the possible investment opportunities against the ‘best of breed’ that they know (both in established industry as well as in the start-up scene in other geographic regions, such as the US). Second to help us connect those companies to the relevant players at the highest levels so that we can truly ‘jumpstart’ the expansion strategy that our companies have. Third, to bring relevant people into our companies as employees or in the ecosystem, so that the talent pool is continuously updated and is up to the challenges at any time during the development of a company.
All are genuinely dedicated for part of their time to Wellington so that they can deliver value and at the same time continuously keep up to speed with what happens in their sectors. Ram Srinivasan is engaged full time with Wellington and runs our Silicon Valley business development office - he is our hands and ears in this largest technology ecosystem of the world.
The second full-time Venture Partner is Daniel Waterhouse. The former Yahoo! executive and 3i sector partner focusses on opportunities in the digital media and online sectors and also supports existing portfolio companies out of Wellington's London office.
